Danger Close (2019)

“Danger Close” is a gripping Australian war film directed by Kriv Stenders, based on the true story of the Battle of Long Tan during the Vietnam War, which occurred on August 18, 1966.

 

The movie follows a company of Australian and New Zealand soldiers from Delta Company, 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR), led by Major Harry Smith, portrayed by Travis Fimmel. What begins as a routine patrol quickly turns into a harrowing battle when the soldiers are ambushed by a large force of Viet Cong and North Vietnamese troops. Outnumbered approximately 20 to 1, the soldiers must rely on their training, courage, and unity to survive in the dense Vietnamese jungle.

 

As the battle unfolds, “Danger Close” depicts the camaraderie, sacrifice, and heroism of the soldiers as they face relentless enemy attacks and adverse weather conditions. Despite the overwhelming odds, they hold their ground, awaiting desperately needed reinforcements and artillery support.
