“Ballerina” is an upcoming American action thriller set in the adrenaline-fueled world of the John Wick franchise. Directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten and Emerald Fennell, the film is a spin-off that bridges the events between “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” (2019) and “John Wick: Chapter 4” (2023).

Ana de Armas takes on the role of Rooney, a deadly dancer seeking vengeance against those responsible for the murder of her family. The star-studded cast includes Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and, of course, Keanu Reeves.

Lionsgate acquired Shay Hatten’s script in 2017, setting the stage for its development alongside the John Wick series. Len Wiseman joined as director in October 2019, with franchise director Chad Stahelski on board as a producer. Production commenced in Prague following the official announcement in April 2022, with Ana de Armas stepping into the lead role.
