Spun (2002)

In Spun (2002), directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the narrative plunges into the chaotic and frenetic world of methamphetamine addiction over a tumultuous three-day binge. Jason Schwartzman stars as Ross, a meth addict whose life spirals out of control as he navigates the underbelly of drug dealers and users.

Ross’s journey introduces him to Nikki (Brittany Murphy), who leads him to her volatile boyfriend, The Cook (Mickey Rourke), the meth supplier. John Leguizamo plays Spider Mike, a small-time dealer perpetually at odds with his girlfriend, Cookie (Mena Suvari). The film also features Patrick Fugit as Frisbee, a fellow user, and Peter Stormare and Alexis Arquette as Mullet Cop and Moustache Cop, respectively, who add dark comedic elements to the narrative.

Spun offers a gritty, unfiltered glimpse into the lives of those caught in the throes of the drug subculture, blending dark humor with a raw portrayal of addiction and its consequences.
