Highlander (2026) – Reboot Starring Henry Cavill
Lionsgate is gearing up to reboot the iconic fantasy film “Highlander” (2026), with Henry Cavill set to star as the legendary Scottish swordsman. Directed by Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the John Wick series, this reboot promises to be a high-budget venture, exceeding $100 million. Stahelski has described the film as being akin to John Wick but with swords, indicating a thrilling, action-packed approach.
The new movie will draw inspiration from the 1986 original, which featured Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, and Clancy Brown as immortals locked in a battle to collect more power, driven by the famous tagline, “There can be only one.” The original film’s success led to four sequels and three TV series, including the popular USA Network show starring Adrian Paul. Queen’s memorable soundtrack further cemented the original’s place in cinematic history.
The reboot will be produced by Joshua Davis, Neal H. Moritz (known for the Fast and the Furious franchise), Stahelski through his 87Eleven Entertainment, and Louise Rosner. Production is expected to start in 2024, setting the stage for a modern take on this beloved fantasy classic.
