Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2025)
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 hit “Aquaman,” continuing the adventures of the titular superhero from DC Comics. Directed by James Wan and featuring a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, the film is set to expand the rich world of Atlantis and the broader DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
Returning as Aquaman, Jason Momoa will once again portray Arthur Curry, alongside a stellar cast including Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The film will delve deeper into the underwater realm and its lore, further exploring the epic and mystical elements introduced in the first film.
James Wan, who directed the original “Aquaman,” was instrumental in developing the sequel. Despite initial hesitation to rush into the next film, Wan agreed to oversee the project and guide its development. The screenplay, penned by Johnson-McGoldrick, promises to build on the worldbuilding and narrative established in the first movie.
Filming began in London in June 2021, and the film is scheduled for release on December 16, 2025. “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is expected to deliver another thrilling and visually spectacular adventure, continuing Aquaman’s journey as he faces new challenges and adversaries in the depths of the ocean.
