Set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023), Ballerina follows the intense story of Rooney (played by Ana de Armas), a skilled killer dancer on a relentless quest for vengeance. Her mission? To hunt down those responsible for the murder of her family.

The film’s development began when Lionsgate acquired Shay Hatten’s script in 2017, which contributed to the screenplay for Parabellum and Hatten’s role as head writer for Chapter 4. In October 2019, Len Wiseman was hired as director, with Chad Stahelski, the franchise’s iconic director, joining as a producer in May 2020. Officially announced in April 2022, the project saw Ana de Armas stepping into the lead role, replacing Unity Phelan from Parabellum. Principal photography, which took place in Prague, has wrapped, and fans can mark their calendars for the film’s release on June 7, 2024.
