The 100 (2014)
The 100, an American television series that first aired on The CW on March 19, 2014, is a gripping and thought-provoking entry into the post-apocalyptic genre. Created by Jason Rothenberg and based on the book series of the same name by Kass Morgan, The 100 delves into themes of survival, leadership, and the consequences of human actions in a world that has been irrevocably altered by a nuclear apocalypse. Over its seven seasons, the series has captivated audiences with its complex characters, intricate plotlines, and ethical dilemmas.
The series begins nearly a century after a nuclear apocalypse has wiped out most of humanity. The story is set in a future where the last remnants of civilization live on a massive space station known as the Ark, orbiting Earth. As the Ark’s resources dwindle and the survival of its inhabitants becomes increasingly precarious, the leaders of the Ark decide to send 100 juvenile delinquents back to the surface of Earth to determine whether it is habitable once again.
This group of 100 teenagers, who have been living in a controlled environment on the Ark and have never set foot on the planet below, are thrust into a harsh
and unpredictable world. They must navigate a landscape that is both unfamiliar and treacherous, facing threats from the environment as well as from other survivors who have adapted to the new world. The show explores their struggles as they attempt to establish a new society while grappling with their own personal conflicts and the moral complexities of their situation.
