In Moana 2: The Return to Te Fiti (2024), the epic adventure continues on the Polynesian island of Motunui, where the legendary goddess Te Fiti, who once bestowed life upon the ocean with her heart, remains a central figure of worship. The story picks up a millennium after Maui, the shape-shifting demigod and master of sailing, initially stole Te Fiti’s heart, leading to the goddess’s disintegration and Maui’s subsequent loss of both his magical fishhook and the heart to the depths.

Now, Moana, the daughter of Motunui’s chief Tui, is chosen by the ocean to restore Te Fiti’s heart. However, her mission faces significant obstacles when Tui intervenes, preventing her from completing her quest and forcing her to lose the heart. Despite her parents’ efforts to prepare her for a future as the island’s chief, Moana’s true destiny calls her back to the ocean.
