Edge of Tomorrow” (also known as “Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow”) is a 2014 American science fiction action film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, with notable performances by Bill Paxton and Brendan Gleeson. Directed by Doug Liman and adapted from Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s 2004 Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill, the screenplay was crafted by Christopher McQuarrie and the Butterworth brothers, Jez and John-Henry.

 

Set in a future where most of Europe is under alien occupation, the story follows Major William Cage (Cruise), a PR officer with limited combat experience. Forced into a critical landing operation against the aliens, Cage finds himself trapped in a time loop, repeatedly reliving the same battle as he seeks a way to defeat the invaders.

The film’s production began in late 2012, with filming occurring in England at WB Studios in Leavesden and other locations, including Trafalgar Square and Saunton Sands. With visual effects handled by nine different companies, Warner Bros. invested over $100 million in its promotion. Released in cinemas starting May 30, 2014, “Edge of Tomorrow” earned positive critical acclaim for its innovative plot, direction, action sequences, and performances, and grossed over $370.5 million worldwide
