THE RAID 3: Teaser REBORN (2024)
“The Raid” is a 2011 Indonesian action thriller film written, directed, and edited by Gareth Evans. Starring Iko Uwais, who previously collaborated with Evans on the 2009 action film “Merantau,” the story follows an elite squad tasked with infiltrating a high-rise building controlled by a ruthless drug lord in the slums of Jakarta. Among the team is Rama (played by Uwais), a veteran member who faces intense battles throughout the mission.
After its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), “The Raid” received widespread acclaim from critics. In the United States, the film was released as “The Raid: Redemption” due to rights issues, a move that also allowed Evans to plan future titles in the series. The US release featured a film score composed by Mike Shinoda and Joseph Trapanese. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 14, 2012.
A sequel, “The Raid 2,” was released in 2014, continuing the story and further showcasing the traditional Indonesian martial art of pencak silat, with fight choreography led by Uwais and Yayan Ruhian. Although a third film was initially considered, Evans decided not to proceed with the project.
